Epic Games Acknowledges ‘Pay to Win’ Car Skins in Fortnite

Epic confesses to having pay-to-win car skins in Chapter 5 Season 3 of Fortnite. These skins will continue to be pay-to-win till the next update.

Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 3 has been all about cars, which is understandable as it is the ‘Mad Max’ themed season. This is why as soon as you enter the battle royale title, you get to experience a battlefield for vehicular warfare this season. A lot of the end game depends on having the faster, stronger and deadlier car, which is why even a slight advantage can be crucial. Hence, players will not be happy to learn that there are pay-to-win skins in Fortnite right now.

The pay-to-win nature of these skins is as clear as day and it was best explained by a TikTok video from popular content creator NickEh30. In the video, NickEh30 demonstrates how the car skins that can be acquired for free in Fortnite have a wider windscreen. This allows enemy players to either get into the passenger seat and shoot the driver through the window, or aim at them easily from the ground. However, the story is very different once you get to the paid skins. Some of these models, for cosmetic reasons, have much smaller windscreens, which makes it harder for players to shoot at the drivers.

This is a clear disadvantage for other players who haven’t spent real money on these car skins. According to a report by Kotaku, Epic Games has acknowledged the situation, stating that they are “aware” of the issue and have a “fix planned for an upcoming build.” This means players will still have to be on the lookout for these pay-to-win cars until the next update.

In other news, The Employee from Lethal Company is now available in the Fortnite Item Shop.

  • Why not share a link to the report by Kotaku that corroborates what you are saying about Epic acknowledging this information? It sounds like it isn’t even all the paid car skins that have this issue.

  • Not a big fan of
the cars or mad max season but do like some of the new weapons but miss some of the old. Can’t wait for next season lol hopefully less car activity.
