It has been more than two years since we last received any kind of update regarding the reimagination project that’s rebuilding Fallout (1997) in the GZDoom Engine. Now, a four-minute trailer has been uploaded on YouTube, perfectly showcasing this passion project that’s shaping up to be Fallout from an entirely new perspective.
This is easily one of the most ambitious mod projects I’ve ever seen, taking the classic, isometric Fallout and moulding it into a first-person shooter built to resemble DOOM.
War Does Change Sometimes
Alexander Berezin recently uploaded a trailer for Fallout: Bakersfield, a recreation of 1997’s Fallout, a game that changed the face of post-apocalyptic titles forever. The developer confirmed that the project is around 60% completed, and while a release window was teased, it’s almost impossible to say for certain what it is, simply because of how it was displayed.

The first teaser for Fallout: Bakersfield was uploaded in September 2022, firmly grasping the attention of Fallout fans worldwide. Almost three years later, we’ve got something new to mull over.
The response to the Fallout: Bakersfield trailer has been superb, with countless comments being posted praising the project on YouTube and across social media.
These fan-made projects are the meat on the bones that is Fallout for now. Fallout 76 is the only ‘active major’ title in the series, if you don’t count Fallout Shelter. It was recently rumoured that multiple Fallout games are in production, but nothing concrete has been confirmed just yet.
