Battlefield 6 marks the return of the traditional class system, but there are a few modern twists.
By default, there are no class restrictions in Battlefield 6, meaning all weapons, gadgets, and throwables are available regardless of your class. That being said, the devs introduced class-defining categories to incentivize players to use specific weapons.
Each class has a signature weapon category, signature trait, and signature gadgets. For example, if you use an Assault Rifle with the Assault class or a Sniper Rifle with the Recon class, there are benefits. As DICE Producer David Sirland explained, “I think it’s a key thing not to make classes be great at everything.” With that in mind, let’s take a look at the role of each class.
All Battlefield 6 Classes

Here are all of the classes in Battlefield 6, along with a breakdown of the weapons and gadgets designed for each one.
Assault Class
- Signature Gadget (Adrenaline Injector): A powerful self-administered stimulant to enhance fighting capability. Temporarily boosts sprint speed and reduces explosive damage. Provides resistance to debuffs and makes enemy footsteps easier to hear.
- Signature Weapon (Assault Rifle): Faster draw and switch times, plus better sprint recovery.
- Signature Trait (Soft Landing): Reduced fall damage and no movement speed penalty after falling.
Engineer Class
- Signature Gadget (Repair Tool): A blow torch to repair friendly vehicles and equipment. Can also damage enemy assets. Extended use will temporarily overheat the tool.
- Signature Weapon (SMG): Improved hip-fire control.
- Signature Trait (Flak Jacket): Decreased Damage taken from explosives
Support Class
- Signature Gadget (Supply Bag): A deployable bag that resupplies all nearby infantry with ammo for gadgets and weapons and regenerates health more efficiently, even when under fire.
- Signature Weapon (LMG): No sprint speed penalty.
- Signature Trait (Quick Revive): Faster drag and stationary revives. (+20% speed, -0.5 second duration)
Recon Class
- Signature Gadget (Motion Sensor): This device detects and displays the position of nearby moving enemies, vehicles, and gadgets on team members’ minimaps. Enemy infantry can remain undetected while moving in crouch or prone. The device emits a sound audible to hostiles.
- Signature Weapon (Sniper): Stabilize aim by holding breath and rechamber quicker between shots.
- Signature Trait (Auto Spot): Looking at hostiles while in ADS marks them as spotted.
