Escape from Tarkov’s Blackout Event Starts Tomorrow

Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, has confirmed that Escape from Tarkov’s next big event, Blackout, starts tomorrow. However, folks have been kept in the dark about Blackout (pun very much intended), so it’s not entirely clear what it is. We’ve got some teaser images to help us figure it out, though.

This is the precursor to the landmark first ‘season’ of Escape from Tarkov, called Kord Breach. It’s themed around the Black Division faction that players were clashing with when ICEBREAKER landed in the extraction shooter a few weeks back, and that goes some way to explaining the Blackout event, I’d say…

What is Blackout in Escape from Tarkov?

Fans have theorized what Blackout could be in Escape from Tarkov. It’s certainly a major event, as they’re the only ones that get names. Also, Nikita has been posting teaser images on social media for several days, building up hype for the mysterious event.

What it seems like is that Labs, the super-challenging in-game map, will be plunged into darkness and invaded by Black Division, potentially looking for some dark, shady secrets on Terragroup and the company’s activities in the city of Tarkov.

But fans have also surmised that it’s something to do with a communications or power blackout that cuts off traders and the flea market until something is resolved in-game.

Either way, Blackout is set to be a major update and event that changes the field of battle for at least a short time. When it’s over, it’s safe to assume that Kord Breach will go live, bringing a battle pass mechanic, fresh challenges, new in-game drip, and modifiers, some of which are a little questionable.
