Escape from Tarkov Devs Tease New Weapon That Sends Fans Wild

Escape from Tarkov is a gun nut’s dream, in many ways. The game, which isn’t exactly a milsim title, leans heavily into realism, promoting authentic weapon handling, ballistics, customization, and durability. It’s not the most intricate thing out there, and you can still do some kooky things with the game’s arsenal, but it’s pretty far up the realism scale.

Recently, Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, teased a new weapon for Escape from Tarkov that sent fans into a frenzy, simply because of how many of them genuinely want it.

Is The G3 Coming to Tarkov?

In a post on social media, Nikita Buyanov, who is effectively the face of Escape from Tarkov, showcased a simple, side-on shot of a Heckler & Koch G3 ‘battle rifle’. The weapon is tried and tested across the gaming space and has found a spot in many top-tier shooters over the years, but it has never arrived in Escape from Tarkov.

Under the post, fans started expressing their enjoyment at the ‘announcement.’ However, it’s important to temper your expectations, as not everything that Nikita posts makes it into the Escape from Tarkov ecosystem. In an interview given some time ago, the team at Battlestate revealed that it can take months to fully flesh out a new Escape from Tarkov weapon, so just hold your horses.

Many Tarkov fans are gun nuts, and in the comments under the image, they posted shots of their own, real-world G3 rifles, declaring that they’d finally have the chance to build a digital replication in Escape from Tarkov.

One user shared a trip down memory lane:

can’t wait to get this beauty… was trained with it when i was in the Bundeswehr (German Army). She was heavy & noisy, but acted like an AK (operating well while covered in dirt). If you are lucky to get a good one, she was accurate AF too.

And, of course, many users took it upon themselves to bombard Nikita with requests for weapons they’d love to see added to Escape from Tarkov. At this point, the game is fast becoming bloated, and some weapons simply aren’t viable, but it’s nice to have a plethora of choices.
