In the most recent Escape from Tarkov patch, dubbed 1.0.4.5, Battlestate Games made a major tweak to how your in-game kill-death ratio displays. After years of compounding both player and bot kills, your Escape from Tarkov K/D will now only display kills related to other player characters.
If you’re a PvE player, the adjustment means that only AI PMCs will count towards your KD. This has understandably confused many players, as they’re logging in after the update has been deployed to find their K/D ratio at rock bottom.
Why Has My Tarkov KD Changed?
If you’re logging into Escape from Tarkov after the 1.0.4.5 patch, you’ll notice that your K/D ratio (kill-death ratio) has plummeted, but why?
It’s explained in the latest patch notes for this all-new Tarkov update:
Updated the K/D display in character stats. It now counts player kills only.
This applies to both PvP and PvE platforms.
For instance, before the update, my K/D in Escape from Tarkov’s PvE platform was around 149.6. After the update, it has collapsed to a measly 29.5, after all those hundreds (if not thousands) of bot kills have been removed.
This means that the following will not count towards your K/D in Tarkov anymore:
- Scavs
- Bosses
- Guards
- Rogues
- Raiders
- Pillagers
- Smugglers
- Cultists
Those who were padding their Tarkov K/D with bot kills to over-inflate their ego will now have egg on their faces. It’s a strange change that feels almost pointless, but it more accurately represents a player’s PvP skills, if nothing else.
The latest Escape from Tarkov patch was a precursor to the 1.0.5 update that’s coming in a few weeks. That update will introduce Icebreaker, the new map, and a new boss, plus a fresh round of quests, a large-scale in-game event, and much more.
