Escape from Tarkov’s Icebreaker Map Just Got Harder to Access

Battlestate Games continues to make tweaks to Escape from Tarkov following the deployment of the massive 1.1.0.0 update that introduced the game’s first online season. It was a monumental update that took the game offline for half a day, and now that it’s here, players are contending with all the changes.

One major change has altered the access criteria for Icebreaker, the newest Escape from Tarkov map that has proven to be a thorn in the side of gamers (especially the casual ones) since it dropped. It always carried a hefty cost to get there, but now things have moved to the next level.

Icebreaker Transit Costs Increased in Tarkov

When Icebreaker was released alongside the firm introduction of the Black Division faction and the game’s newest boss, Wedge, it was quickly discovered that it wasn’t a simple map to access.

Players needed to first work through a questline to unlock a transit, a hovercraft that would take them from the pier at Shoreline to the Icebreaker ship off in an ice field somewhere away from the city of Tarkov.

However, to use that transit, players needed to pay a whopping 400,000 rubles every time. They also needed to pay 2400 Euros to get off the ship again once they’d completed their raid.

IF they completed their raid…

But now, Battlestate Games has made a massive change to that in-and-out requirement, bumping up the price tag for a hovercraft ride to and a helicopter ride from Icebreaker.

To get to Icebreaker, you’ll now need to pay a handsome 700,000 rubles. And if you want to get home again, it’ll cost an eye-watering 4000 Euros – almost double the original cost. All in all, that’s around 1.4 million rubles every single time you want to get to and from Icebreaker.

Battlestate Games hasn’t yet addressed exactly why these costs have been raised, but it’s the latest in a long line of changes.
