Could The Elder Scrolls 6 be dubbed Sentinel? Fans believe an eight-character title tease may have revealed the RPG’s subtitle.
It’s been almost a decade since the game was first announced. It was back on June 11, 2018, that Bethesda revealed the game’s existence, and since then, we haven’t seen any official footage of the game beyond the reveal trailer, which was less than a minute long.
In 2025, Todd Howard declared the game was still a long way from release, and in June, Bethesda stated they would reveal it “when the time was right.” The most recent update suggests that the game is at least two to three years away. Still, there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Elder Scrolls 6 Name Theory Points to ‘Sentinel’
On August 11, XBOX CEO Asha Sharma teased the game’s name and posted a tweet praising the scale and Grandeur of the upcoming title. In her tweet, she used eight asterisks to obscure the subtitle, and eagle-eyed social media users now believe they’ve cracked the code, with some suggesting it may stand for “Sentinel”.
One such social media post notes that former Elder Scrolls writer Michael Kirkblade even thinks that Sentinel might be the name of the game. Sentinel is one of the nine kingdoms of Hammerfell in Elder Scrolls lore. There is another Reddit post suggesting the name was teased in Starfield, another major Bethesda project.
Of course, these are exciting theories, but they are not official confirmation of the game’s title or overall setting. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor all things Elder Scrolls and report any updates.
