Fans of college football get ready because news about EA Sports College Football is set to come on Monday, January 8. That’s according to a report from Thursday by 247Sports.
According to the report, EA Sports is “expected to release new details of the video game online to coincide with the College Football Playoff’s national championship”.
The report doesn’t mention what type of news could be on the way. Whether it’s an official release date, the cover announcement, or something more substantial remains to be seen.
The last official update from EA on the state of the game came during an earnings call over the summer. At the time, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the game was making “incredible progress” while the team was still working on licensing issues regarding schools and players.
“Gameplay is really coming together, and really capturing all the action of pageantry, and the difference in college football versus the NFL,” Wilson said at the time. “I feel really confident in what the team’s doing.”
Insider Gaming has yet to independently verify the legitimacy of the claims. As with all rumors, take it with a grain of salt.
EA Sports College Football is expected to launch this summer and is being built using the Frostbite engine.
