Dying Light: The Beast is in the open and being enjoyed by gamers worldwide. It’s the third iteration of the decade-old zombie-slashing franchise that first stunned fans in 2015, and this latest release is, in my opinion, the best. One thing that fans are questioning, given the reduced scale of the game compared to Dying Light 2, is whether Dying Light: The Beast will have any post-launch updates.
Techland has cleared up any concern around that question.
Dying Light: The Beast Will Have Post-Launch Updates
It has been confirmed that Dying Light: The Beast will get the usual assortment of post-launch patches to add additional endgame content and replayability features. While it’s not yet clear what that entails, it’s assumed that it would be something like a New Game Plus option.
In terms of DLC or expansions, the team hasn’t confirmed what’s coming, but has noted that ‘there’s even more to come later down the road’, so this could just be the beginning of the path for Dying Light: The Beast.
The first patch for the game, released ahead of day one, contained improvements for AI enemies, parkour physics, difficulty balancing, and lighting. Techland has worked hard to produce a top-notch game, and things are going to get better as the game evolves.
In June, I interviewed Tymon Smektala, the franchise director, and he assured me that Dying Light: The Beast was being thought of internally as Dying Light 3, which gives you an indication as to the intended impact of the game.
Ahead of the launch of Dying Light: The Beast, Techland revealed a stack of free in-game items players would unlock simply for pre-ordering the game. That’s in addition to all the free content offered via Dying Light: The Beast docket codes, exclusive promo items that can be redeemed via the Dying Light site, for use in The Beast.
