How to Get Grapple Hook in Dying Light: The Beast

Dying Light is best known for having high-octane parkour mechanics, and a tool in the player’s arsenal to facilitate that has always been the grapple hook. In Dying Light: The Beast, players can unlock a grapple hook tool, but it doesn’t arrive straightaway. In this guide, I’ll help you understand how to get the grapple hook in Dying Light: The Beast (and when you can).

If you’re eager to start swinging between the rooftops of Castor Woods, read on to learn the location of the grapple hook in Dying Light: The Beast.

Find Grapple Hook in Dying Light: The Beast

Unfortunately, the grapple hook cannot be found or bought in Dying Light: The Beast. It will be given to the player upon arrival at the mission, “Some Like it Dark.” This mission is scheduled after Vengeance is Mine. To give you a rough expectation, it took me 12 hours to unlock the grapple hook in Dying Light: The Beast.

You may get there faster if you’re not grinding side content, but I was happy exploring and uncovering the secrets of Castor Woods before getting the grapple hook.

Once you’ve equipped the grapple hook, you’ll find that you can rank it up using resources and manual pages, which are books that you’ll find scattered around the world. As you climb progressively higher up the ranks, you’ll need better manual pages to achieve a higher grade.

At the highest level, the Dying Light: The Beast grapple hook can be used to swing around the map, cross huge gaps, and even pull and throw enemies mid-combat, disarming them for a while. It’s effectively the same as the grapple hook you get in Dying Light 2: Stay Human, and as long as you have stamina in your gauge, you’ll be able to keep casting the grapple hook.

Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum if you’ve managed to unlock the grapple hook just yet.
