Techland has introduced the 1.4 update to Dying Light: The Beast, which includes New Game+, the addition of ‘Legend Levels’, and more than 400 fixes and improvements. Given the game was such a hit at launch, it seems bizarre that there are that many things to fix, but Techland is going the distance to prove how perfect it wants this game to be.
Dying Light: The Beast’s 1.4 update will also introduce higher difficulty levels, deeper immersion, ray tracing, and a special, limited-time event that will yield exclusive rewards and double XP.
The Beast is Back
It has been a couple of months since Dying Light: The Beast was released, but fans are still neck-deep in the world of Castor Woods. Post-launch, Techland added the ‘Call of the Beast’ challenge circuit, adding in new community-driven events every week with a nice rotation of rewards.
With the 1.4 update, which is being released today on all platforms, players will get even more.
Techland has added the sought-after New Game+ mode, allowing players to experience Kyle Crane’s latest story all over again while retaining everything they’ve unlocked. The more times New Game+ is completed, the harder things will become.
Beyond level 15, players will now hit Legend Levels, which is a similar mechanic to previous Dying Light games. This gives users something to strive for beyond the level cap that existed when the game hit the market.
Techland also confirmed the impending arrival of 400 tweaks and adjustments with this update, impacting most particularly the parkour and environment navigation mechanics. It was noted that this update has been ‘strongly driven by community feedback’, which is kind of Techland’s gig.
Finally, ray tracing will bring more realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections to the latest Dying Light game, pushing immersion and visual clarity even further.
