Techland and Embody have just announced a Dying Light partnership that brings harrowing and immersive audio profiles to both Dying Light 2: Stay Human and Dying Light: The Beast. The intense, horror-fuelled environments of Villedor and Castor Woods are about to enter the next level, courtesy of this collaboration.
This is all via the introduction of the Immerse Gamepack, an optional add-on that uses Embody’s personalized spatial technology to give you the most realistic and immersive soundscapes possible.
Optimize Your Dying Light Audio Experience
Coming soon to Dying Light 2: Stay Human and Dying Light: The Beast is an all-new audio-based collaboration between Techland and Embody. It’s set to fuse Techland’s open-world, zombie-filled universe with Embody’s intelligent audio technology, which tailors the soundscape of these games to the players’ ears and headphones.
It’s done via something called Enhanced Headphone Mode, which will be added to these games via the Immerse Gamepack. When it drops (date TBC), it’ll be free to try for fourteen days, after which it’ll have a price tag applied.
While we don’t know what that is, the last major game to get the Embody technology was Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but admittedly, that didn’t go down too well. Given that it was being added to a multiplayer shooter, it effectively paywalled an advantage that others could have, and in that game, it cost $19.99 for the personalized audio profile.
It’s a different thing entirely for Dying Light, of course. That’s not a competitive first-person shooter, after all.
When I reviewed Dying Light: The Beast last year, I marvelled at the ambient audio, the soundtrack, and the audio cues and effects of the undead. From Roger Craig Smith’s growls to the sounds of nature across Castor Woods, I’m willing to bet this and Dying Light 2: Stay Human will sound impeccable with this collaboration.
