Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Hits 8 Million Copies Sold

In a new post on X today, the official Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot account revealed that the game has now reached 8 million copies sold.

The team thanked players for their support in reaching the milestone. However, they also teased that “we hope you look forward to what’s coming next.” The devs did not confirm any clear details about this, but it could possibly signal future DLC.

The most recent DLC for the game was Goku’s Next Journey, which released in February 2024. It expanded beyond Kakarot’s main story, concentrating on material from the anime.

CyberConnect2’s hit action RPG Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot originally launched in 2020 to solid reviews. It still has an 8.1 user score on Metacritic, as well as “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, four years after launch.

Kakarot only recently joined Steam in Japan, and the game is currently having a major sale on Steam through July 11, 2024.

The devs could potentially reveal more about the future of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot at Tokyo Game Show this year. The event is coming in September 2024, and the schedule and theme for this year were confirmed last February.

In the meantime, Dragon Ball fans might also look forward to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. The anticipated fighting game now has a release date for October 11, 2024. It will also have a special edition available in physical format.

  1. Glad they used the designs from the epilogue of the original series/manga instead of the awful stuff from Super. Cyber Connect 2 needs to get to work on Hinokami Chronicles 2 though.

  2. They did this and Demon Slayer is close to ending what does Cyber Connect do next? Finally make that Jump crossover game we’ve been waiting over 5 years for? Make a Boruto Ninja Storm game? Finally come back to .hack?

  3. It’s been over 7 years since Dragon Ball FighterZ came out where is the new Arc System Shonen Jump fighter? Where is the follow up to Jump Force Bandai said they had one planned and that game came out over 5 years ago!

  4. Will more titles be shown at Anime Expo? Shonen Jump crossover game, the Arc System Works Shonen Jump fighting game, and maybe Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2. The best thing would be those and Kingdom Hearts 4. Anime Expo would be goated.

    1. Square needs a win right now! Now would have been the time to show a new trailer. Rumor is they’re waiting until August at D23 but that’s not where a new trailer should be if it’s more Disney stuff like Moana then it will be a turn off for most giving the game a shot.

  5. Bandai Namco apparently for the first time reported negative annual income since its founding. Maybe if they made more of these they would be in a better place. I don’t see Tekken 8 being as big as they need it unless it has a big guest character which it probably won’t Yujiro Hanma would be huge or All Might.
