Tokyo Game Show 2024 Schedule and Theme Revealed

The Tokyo Game Show is one of the most important events in the industry’s calendar, and recently, the 2024 iteration was revealed in full. From September 26 to September 29, the Tokyo Game Show 2024 will welcome visitors, industry workers, and experts from around the world, inviting them to take part in exhibitions, panels, gameplay demos, and reveals.

The theme for this year’s event – which will be held at the Makuhair Messe in Chiba – is ‘Trailblaze the World the Gaming’. It’ll be a top-shelf hybrid event that backs up the physical showcase with an enhanced virtual offering for gamers who can’t make the journey.

Tokyo Loves Gaming

The Tokyo Game Show is the biggest event of its kind in the APAC region, rivalling the likes of Gamescom, PAX, and once upon a time, E3. This year, the organisers are inviting visitors to attend hte largest exhibition layout ever constructed for the event – but there’s also an in-depth virtual venue being created for those who can’t get to Tokyo.

For the first two days, the Tokyo Game Show will be open exclusively to business guests and media, with the latter two days being publically accessible. Last year, more than 250,000 people visited the Tokyo Game Show – and there are expectations that more gamers and industry personalities will attend this year.

Some of the features of the upcoming show teased in a recent release are:

  • An international networking party to ‘facilitate business exchange beyond borders’
  • Largest ever scale, with the event spanning 13 exhibition halls
  • The virtual event will be available for more than two weeks and will be accessible on smartphones, PCs, and VR devices
  • Esports, indie games, gaming hardware, family gaming, AR, VR, and more will all be represented

It’s expected that a whopping 2,500 booths will be made available during the event – exhibitors have until May 24 to get their applications in. This is sure to be a memorable event that will generate a lot of buzz in the gaming world.
