Donkey Kong 64 Finally Joins Nintendo Switch Online

Donkey Kong 64 is now available on Nintendo Switch Online as part of the Nintendo 64 classics. Nintendo announced that the game will join the service on June 4, just in time to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Switch 2’s release.

Until the release of Donkey Kong Bananza in 2025, Donkey Kong 64 was the only 3D adventure featuring Donkey Kong. While the wild character is set to return to the three-dimensional world, fan-favorites like Lanky Kong and Chunky Kong have yet to make a comeback in any games.

What’s Next for Nintendo?

With the month of June upon us and several gaming showcases announced, everyone is still waiting for the announcement of the first general Nintendo Direct presentation of the year. It is known that Star Fox is returning in a remake of Star Fox 64 on the Nintendo 64 with enhanced visuals and more. Much like Donkey Kong, Fox McCloud is seeing a resurgence spurred by an appearance in a Super Mario Bros movie.

As for other potential announcements from Nintendo, everyone is still expecting the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Reliable, weaker NateTheHate previously claimed that the game would be released later this year. The next Fire Emblem installment still needs a release date, and players are hoping for an announcement on either the next 3D Mario experience or a Super Smash Bros. title.
