The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion played a massive role in my childhood. It was one of my first true open-world RPG experiences, and I lost myself for the longest time. I explored every inch of Cyrodiil, favoring Anvil. Despite my undying love for the RPG, I can admit that it’s showing its age. We could use more information about the Oblivion Remaster release date, so here’s what we know currently!
Is Oblivion Getting a Remaster?
Thanks to the FTC leaks, specifically the ZeniMax Management Forecast, we know that Bethesda was working on an Oblivion Remaster at one point. The open-world RPG project was said to launch sometime in Fiscal Year 22, meaning sometime between July 2021 and June 2022, but that didn’t happen. Most projects received significant delays following the pandemic and a tumultuous games industry.
Furthermore, Phil Spencer said you can’t always trust these leaks, as projects constantly shift and change in game development. He’s likely trying to cast a shadow of doubt over the entire leak, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening sometime this year or next!

When is the Oblivion Remaster Release Date?
Unfortunately, we don’t yet have an official Oblivion Remaster release date. There is very little information surrounding the project, including whether it’s still happening. Unlike with the Fallout franchise, there’s less of a wait time from this point until the launch of The Elder Scrolls VI, though we still don’t have an official release date for that title either.
That said, remaster The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion would make a lot of sense. It was a fan-favorite RPG, and it would help bridge the gap between The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls VI.
