Last week, with rumors circulating online regarding the future of the Xbox brand, Microsoft held a town hall to speak directly to employees about the state of the company. According to Inverse, we now have details of that meeting coming out ahead of Microsoft’s event on February 15.
According to the report, Xbox head Phil Spencer reconfirmed to employees that Xbox hardware will continue on past the current generation Xbox Series X|S. On top of that, Xbox president Sarah Bond reportedly told employees that “every screen is an Xbox” while talking about the company’s strategy of “existing on multiple kinds of devices and greater ambitions of becoming the number one cross-platform gaming company.”
To help get that point across, images of surprise hit Palworld was shown on TVs, mobile devices, tablets, and even handheld devices. According to Inverse, Xbox employees even “joked” about an Xbox handheld.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Microsoft multiple times over the course of a few months for comment on the rumored Xbox handheld, but the company hasn’t responded. Recently, it was claimed that the Microsoft Surface team was working on the next Xbox device.
Xbox is expected to announce plans to bring some first party games over to other platforms. The first two games are set to be Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, according to previous reports.
