Destiny Could’ve Thrived with the Help of AI, Suggests Epic Games CEO

The Epic Games CEO has provided his 2 cents on the Destiny 2 situation, suggesting AI could’ve helped the game thrive.

The Destiny fanbase has been facing a tough few weeks since Bungie announced it would be halting development of Destiny 2. The reasons behind this shutdown have sparked extensive discussion over the past month. Interestingly, the CEO of Epic Games believes that AI could have been a potential solution to one of the issues faced.

Destiny 2’s Issue with Scale of Content Could Be Solved with AI, Says Epic CEO

To understand the full context, players will first need to know what was said in the original post. Just a few days ago, a report from Forbes revealed reasons for which Destiny 2 died. One of the reasons was the “enormous scale of content that had to be produced nonstop,” or else fans would start revolting at not receiving enough content. The report also revealed that “Destiny was only very rarely profitable during its entire lifespan.”

The CEO of Epic Games commented (via VGC) on this issue, saying, “If only some sort of newfangled technology could come along and make it possible to overcome bullet point #1 and enable games like Destiny to thrive!” Players in the comment section had mixed reactions. Some completely disagreed with his notion, while others argued that the technology wouldn’t be capable of producing the same level of quality. Additionally, some players expressed concern that the fan base wouldn’t accept such changes. A few players even urged Sweeney to purchase the Destiny IP to ensure its survival.
