The latest job listing by CD Projekt Red talks about online multiplayer features for Cyberpunk 2.
Online multiplayer for the Cyberpunk franchise has been a long-lost dream for the franchise. There were earlier reports that this feature could be added to the game at a later date, but it was scrapped later. A report from last year said that devs were considering online multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2, and the new job listing suggests that this dream might finally be coming true.
Cyberpunk 2 is Hiring Someone to Develop and Optimize Multiplayer Systems
Spotted by TheGamer, CD Projekt Red posted several job listings yesterday, and if you dive into the finer details, you will find that devs are working on developing online multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2. They are currently looking to add a Lead Network Engineer to the team, who will be integral in designing and implementing the network architecture and online system. More details about online multiplayer were stated in the ‘Daily Responsibilities’ category.
The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and efficient network architectures for online features. They need to create low-latency, high-performance online experiences. Lastly, they need to lead a team in developing and optimizing multiplayer systems, including matchmaking, and addressing challenges related to latency, bandwidth usage, and server performance. These details suggest that online multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2 is all but confirmed; all we need is an official announcement.
