Could Rockstar be preparing for some sort of reveal or announcement for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6? According to keen-eyed fans online, that might just be the case.
All over social media, fans have been posting what appeared to be updates to the official GTA 6 website. These updates, which come months after the game’s first reveal, took place both on the front- and back-end of the website, and included areas for screenshots for the game.
Doing more digging brought up links to what appears to be placeholders for four screenshots as well well as the game’s cover art. The data was found via the Rockstar Games API with available JSON data.
After it was found, Rockstar reverted the look of the front-end of the game’s website to hide the section for screenshots. Insider Gaming was able to verify both the initial updates to the website as well as the change back.
That said, with website or CDN (content delivery network) updates, while an announcement surrounding the game could very well be coming, it could just be standard updates to prepare for when they ultimately come. Things like URL updates, placeholders (as mentioned above), structure updates, etc. It doesn’t necessarily mean that something is imminent.
For what it’s worth, though, Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive is set to hold its next earnings call on May 16.
