If you want to score more touchdowns and commit fewer turnovers on offense in College Football 26, it all starts with learning all of the controls.
EA Sports emphasized giving you more control in College Football 26. For example, the development team listened to community feedback and overhauled the substitution system. Instead of having to pause and go into the menus when one of your players is suffering from wear and tear, you can do it all from the D-Pad.
In addition, CFB 26 introduces more than 2800 new plays and 45 new formations, giving you more options to dissect opposing defenses. On top of that, there are new pre-snap audibles for motion plays, quarterback protection, and gadget packages. However, none of those new plays will make much of a difference if you don’t first know the basics.
College Football 26 Offense Controls Explained

There are a few controls in particular that players are having difficulty figuring out in College Football 26.
How to Throw a Lob Pass in College Football 26
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to complete a lob pass in College Football 26.
- Determine which receiver to throw to.
- Lightly tap the receiver icon to throw a lob pass.
Don’t hold down the button too long, or it will become a bullet pass. For a higher pass, hold L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox to throw the ball higher, preventing the lob pass from being intercepted by a defender.
Completing a lob pass is much harder with classic passing controls. Without a meter, players must rely strictly on feel to distinguish between a bullet and a lob pass. The best time to use a lob pass is when your receiver is being guarded in press coverage, allowing fast players to run in behind and create separation. Lob passes also work well on outside routes to the sideline.
Throwing a lob pass over the middle of the field is usually a mistake because of safeties or linebackers lurking in the area.
How to Truck and Reach For It in College Football 26
To perform a truck, flick the right stick up and hold it to reach for it.
Trucking in College Football 26 refers to ball carriers putting their shoulder down and attempting to run through a defender to break a tackle and gain more yards. The skill move puts you in a vulnerable position to take a heavy hit from a defender and either get injured or fumble.
However, strong players can utilize this ability consistently to outmaneuver defenders and advance further down the field.
Meanwhile, reaching for it is a new ability in CFB 26 that allows the ball carrier to extend the ball with one hand, enabling them to either get to the first-down marker or cross the pylon for a touchdown. The skill move is helpful, but also extremely risky because the ball is in an unprotected position and can be easily swatted down for a fumble.
How to Use Playmaker in College Football 26
To use Playmaker, hold L2 on PlayStation or LT on Xbox and flick the right stick in the direction you want the closest receiver to run to.
As suggested by the instructions, Playmaker allows you to direct the movements of the closest receiver to you during a play. The skill is helpful when you are rolling out of the pocket as the quarterback, and there are no open targets. Using Playmaker helps you get out of that jam, because you can turn a broken play into a huge gain.
That being said, you must be precise about when to use this and have enough time, as waiting for a receiver to get open can result in either a sack or a poorly placed pass that leads to an interception.
