COD Champs 2025 Predictions – OpTic Texas vs. Vancouver Surge

The Call of Duty League Championship comes to a close today after an intense weekend that shattered everyone’s expectations. It has felt like anything is possible this time around, especially after the top seed and fan favourite in LA Thieves crashed out of the tournament without winning a single series.

Today, we’ll see OpTic Texas and Vancouver Surge battle for the largest prize and most prolific trophy in Call of Duty esports. It’s the most dominant team in the top bracket versus the underdog that has made a phenomenal lower-bracket run to get to Championship Sunday.

Who will take the trophy?

Will Surge Storm Over Texas?

Vancouver Surge has a very real chance of causing a massive upset and defeating OpTic Texas on the grandest Call of Duty stage in the business. The team has had a monumental run this weekend, being cast out of the upper bracket by Miami Heretics and then defying all odds to go on an utter burner.

In sequence, Vancouver eliminated the LA Thieves, Toronto Ultra, Miami Heretics, and Boston Breach. That’s what it took to qualify for the Grand Final, and Vancouver took the entire streak in their stride.

They’re coming into the fixture white-hot against OpTic Texas, a team that has waltzed through the upper bracket with three perfect rounds. Against Atlanta FaZe, Toronto Ultra, and Boston Breach, OpTic Texas refused to drop a map, absolutely devastating all comers to secure the Grand Final spot yet again.

Vancouver and OpTic haven’t faced off since May 3rd, when Texas swept Surge in the Major 4 qualifiers. Before that, they hadn’t clashed since December 2024, and again, OpTic Texas took the dub.

It is extremely tough to call this one, but given their dominance and streak in the lower bracket and who they’ve eliminated already this weekend, I might give the win to Vancouver Surge.

Update: I was wrong.
