Clutch is the debut title from Maverick Games. The studio comprises former Forza Horizon developers. The game was officially announced earlier in the week, but at Summer Games Fest 2026, the First full trailer was shown off.
This isn’t your normal racing simulation. This game is described as a cinematic, open-world, action-driving game. The story follows Theo, voiced by Tosin Cole, on a thrilling adventure that sees him risk his life to compete in the Riviera 1000 by day and in the underground street-racing scene at night.
More on Clutch
Mike Brown, the game’s creative director, was recently interviewed by IGN, where he shared more details about Clutch and his vision for it.
“There was that spell where Need for Speed – from Need for Speed Underground, Underground 2, and Most Wanted – was the number one best-selling game in the world, like, three years running. There was that period where Top Gear was the most-watched TV show and, in film, even though it’s not the biggest film franchise in the world, the Fast & Furious series is one of them.
“It’s made more money than Harry Potter; it’s made more money than Batman. And that is the level of ambition for Clutch, to set the tone for car culture across the next decade, and be that tentpole IP that drives culture forward.”
Players can check out the full synopsis for the game below:
Set in the French Riviera – follow the story (written by Skins co-creator, Jamie Brittain) of Theo (Tosin Cole) and Cass Martial (Little Simz) through a thrilling adventure that sees them compete in the prestigous Riviera 1000 (R1K) by day, and the underground street-racing scene of the Midnight Collective by night.
After Theo and Cass’ troubled upbringing in the UK, they are adopted by former R1K superstar Ludo Martial (Gregory Montel) before earning their way to a pair of seats in the R1K.
Following a spate of tragedies befalling the sport, R1K head George McBride (Peter Serafinowicz) shocks the racing world by introducing disruptive technology to avoid any more such disasters.
However, this berths a divide in the integrity of the sport, calling Theo to the allure of the Midnight Collective. Trouble follows and after recruiting the services of fixer, Emery Whitman (Jane Perry), the underbelly of the city and R1K is blown wide open.
Amongst the professional racing of the R1K and the style of the Midnight Collective, there are thousands of miles of diverse roads and terrain to explore, from breathtaking coastal highways to vibrant city streets.
Blockbuster action, deep vehicle customisation, pursuits, getaways, innovative vehicle tech, and so much more – it’s all in CLUTCH.
