Cities: Skylines 2 Is Finally Getting Mod Support

Cities: Skylines 2 console release delayed Paradox Interactive

Five months after its release, Cities: Skylines 2 is finally getting modding support later this month. In addition to mod support, the first asset pack is also set to launch called “Beach Properties”

“Modding is the lifeblood of Cities: Skylines and we’re excited to start our public modding beta,” developer Colossal Order said. “The creativity and feedback from our players make this community great and we can’t wait to see what they create using the tools we provide.

“Starting on the 25th of March, players will be able to create custom maps using the in-game Editor and implement Code Mods, both of which can be shared through the Paradox Mods platform. Tools for asset creation and other modding options will be available later this year as we continue to expand the modding tools and empower our players to create the cities of their dreams.”

The modding tools will see updates between beta release and its 1.0 release, Colossal Order says. Throughout the process, the studio will “be taking your opinion into consideration when we continue to work on the editor and are looking forward to seeing the feedback that you might have.”

The updated road map for Cities: Skylines 2

As mentioned above, in addition to mod support, the Beach Properties asset pack will include 10 North American residential buildings with three levels, 10 European residential building with three levels, six signature builds, and four new trees. The asset pack DLC will cost $9.99, but it’s also available as part of the Expansion Pass: Waterfronts that was included in the Ultimate Edition of the game.

Lastly, a new in-game radio station — Deluxe Relax Station — will be available starting the 25th as well for $4.99.
