CD Projekt Red has confirmed that about half the company has moved to working on The Witcher 4, currently known only as Polaris. On top of that, even more developers are currently in transfer from work on Cyberpunk 2077, which could mean even more are moved to Polaris.
The confirmation came during the company’s Q3 earnings report on Tuesday.
Announced as being in production back in 2022, the next game of The Witcher series is slated to kick off a new trilogy for the franchise. The company has remained tight-lipped about what to expect from the game or the future of The Witcher as a whole. The only thing confirmed is that it will be an open-world RPG that continues the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
With the next game only being announced last year, it will be years until fans get remotely close to playing it. The company has said, however, that once Polaris releases, the entirety of the next trilogy will be released within a six-year window. Of course, as with anything in video games, those plans could change.
