Modern Warfare 4 has landed as the latest Call of Duty title, alongside the return of DMZ, and the mode sparks questions on whether you can play alone.
Infinity Ward has impressed so far with Modern Warfare 4, with early access to the campaign proving to be a positive mood, and all eyes are now on whether that extends across all modes.
If you’re wanting to play DMZ but are wondering whether you need a squad of players, Insider Gaming has all the details.
Can You Play DMZ Solo?

Yes, you can opt to play DMZ solo at any time, though you may find the experience to be more challenging than when you’re playing in a group.
A Squad in DMZ consists of a maximum of three players, with shared missions, but the loot you find will have to be split amongst you. Naturally, playing on your own, you won’t have that problem.
The downside is it makes things a lot trickier in DMZ, particularly if you’re pushing through Story Missions, Dynamic Ops, or venturing into areas with a high threat level.
However, it’s entirely down to you, and if you don’t want to play in a squad, that is your prerogative.
How to Turn Off Squad Fill in DMZ
You can turn off the Squad Fill option in DMZ before you begin your search for a match, blocking any vacant slots in the squad from being filled with random players.
This can be utilized whether you’re playing solo or with another player, restricting the squad size to one or two, depending on how many players are in your party.
Here are the details on how to toggle Squad Fill in DMZ, so you can set your squad to the ideal size.
- Enter the DMZ game mode.
- From the FOB, hit the Deploy button.
- Toggle the Squad Fill option by hitting the required input (L2 on PlayStation, LB on XBOX)
- Search for a match.
