Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Officially Revealed, Release Date Announced

Activision’s worst-kept secret has been confirmed. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has officially been revealed, and it’s going to one of its darkest and most politically volatile settings yet.

Modern Warfare 4 centers around a rapidly escalating global conflict on the Korean Peninsula, where a full-scale invasion of South Korea threatens to destabilize the world. Infinity Ward says the game will deliver a more grounded and authentic tone, with the story focused on political tension, covert operations, and international warfare.

The campaign follows multiple perspectives throughout the conflict, including Private Park, a young Korean soldier thrust into combat for the first time. Infinity Ward describes his story as a “zero to hero journey” as he and his squad attempt to survive overwhelming odds during the invasion.

Meanwhile, longtime franchise icon Captain Price returns in a very different role. Rather than operating alongside Task Force 141, Price forms a rogue alliance and works outside official channels as the crisis spirals toward global war.

The campaign spans several international locations beyond Korea, including missions set in New York, Paris, and Mumbai. Players can expect everything from trench warfare and close-quarters combat to high-speed pursuits and SAS night raids.

Beyond the story, Modern Warfare 4 is also being positioned as a major technical leap for the series. Infinity Ward says the game was built exclusively for current-generation hardware and PC, allowing the studio to push greater scale, fidelity, immersion, and responsiveness than previous entries.

Other modes include an improved multiplayer with game-changing features like the removal of bloom, new field of view improvements, movement updates, and more. And the DMZ is back in what Activision calls “the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
