Borderlands 4 is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the calendar year, and there isn’t too much longer to wait until the release date.
Six years on from the third game in the series, Borderlands 4 is going for broke, teasing the hardest bosses ever, revealing the full map and 200 hidden collectibles, along with plenty of plans for additional DLC content.
If you can’t wait to jump into the game but are yet to mark the release date onto your calendar, we’ve got all the important details about Borderlands 4.
When is Borderlands 4 Coming Out?

Borderlands 4 is due to release on September 12 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Switch 2 release planned for a later date.
The release date was confirmed during February’s PlayStation State of Play, which was then moved forward in April. Earlier this month, Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford announced that a Switch 2 release is set for October.
Unlike many other modern games, Borderlands 4 does not offer any early access incentives through pre-order or upgraded editions. Instead, all players must be patient and wait for the specified release date, as there’s no queue jumping.
Borderlands 4 releases during a period that is relatively quiet so far, though more release dates could be revealed at Gamescom, and it could end up being one of the biggest games of the year.
How to Pre-Order Borderlands 4
Borderlands 4 pre-orders are available on all storefronts ahead of release, with the only exception being on Switch 2, where pre-orders are not yet live.
There are three different versions of Borderlands 4 available to pre-order, with the cheapest being the Standard Edition. This provides the base game and the Gilded Glory Pack, which consists of exclusive skins, and is priced at $69.99.
Alternatively, the Deluxe Edition, which includes the same pack as the Standard Edition along with the Bounty Pack Bundle and Firehawk’s Fury weapon skin, costs $99.99.
Those looking to get everything can do so with the $129.99 Super Deluxe Edition, which includes everything already mentioned along with a Vault Hunter Pack and Ornate Order Pack.
You may be able to upgrade your edition once the game is released to claim the other bonuses provided, though this is yet to be confirmed, and it might mean missing out on the Gilded Glory Pack, which is advertised as a pre-order bonus.
