One of the Best Zombie Games in Years Is Finally Going on PlayStation Plus

Hours ago, we reported on the full suite of games making their way to PlayStation Plus in October. There are 14 fantastic titles headed to the service, but one game stands out above the rest.

In April 2023, Dambuster Studios finally released Dead Island 2 after more than a decade of troubled development. It had become one of the most highly anticipated open-world zombie survival games ever made, and when it hit the market, it didn’t disappoint.

In October, you’ll be able to get it for free on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Kept You Waiting

It has been a year and a half since Dead Island 2 hit the market, and in that time, Dambuster Studios has pumped plenty of content into the game, including two major expansions.

This stellar open-world zombie slasher ticked over seven million players in May 2024, and in just a few days, another monumental content drop will hit the platform. On October 22, players will get the ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ update, which includes a horde mode and new game plus.

This patch will be free to take advantage of, and it lands at the perfect time for the game to be added to PlayStation Plus.

Before the game launched in April 2023, I was able to get exclusive access to the title and piece together my earliest impressions. From the moment I played the preview product, I was smitten with Dead Island 2. It’s a hilarious, gory romp that takes players through an immersive story that unfolds across a range of small sandbox environments.

It features returning characters from the series, a range of incredible weapons, and the freedom to become the kind of player you want to be.

Will you be downloading Dead Island 2 when it arrives on PS Plus this month? Let us know on the Insider Gaming forum.
