Best Rated Steam Games of 2023

When it comes to PC gaming, Steam reigns supreme as the go-to platform to buy games, with over 120 active users and over 60 million using it daily. Because of the sheer size of the platform and the thousands of games on offer, it can be difficult to navigate and discover which games are the best of the best. Here are the five best-rated Steam games of 2023.

5. Ghost Trick

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an HD remaster of the 2010 game first released on the Nintendo DS by Shu Takumi, the creator of the Ace Attorney series. The premise of the game is fun in that you have to investigate your own murder by switching between the real world and the ghost world. If you’re a fan of the Ace Attorney series then this is a game you should enjoy.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective scored 90% on Metacritic, with some critics calling it a great remaster of the Nintendo DS classic.

4. Resident Evil 4/Separate Ways

Resident Evil 4 is one of the most beloved games of all time, which meant that Capcom had to make sure they did the remake justice, and they managed to pull it off. Some claim the remake is better than the original game, and I would tend to agree. Both Resident Evil 4 and its recently released DLC Separate Ways both scored 91% on Metacritic so I am combining them for this entry. Separate Ways follows Ada through the events of the game from her perspective and Capcom somehow managed to make this better than the main game, making it the best $9.99 you will likely spend on a game in a long time.

Both Resident Evil 4 and Separate Ways scored 91% on Metacritic, with critics calling this a faithful recreation of a beloved masterpiece.

3. Turbo Overkill

If you like games such as Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem, then Turbo Overkill is a game that you need to play, in fact, the game is published by the company behind Duke Nukem 3D. Turbo Overkill is over-the-top with near-never ending action with an arsenal of guns which also includes an Evil Dead 2-inspired leg chainsaw. The game features over two dozen levels and thousands of enemies to slaughter, this is the 90s FPS genre brought into 2023.

Turbo Overkill scored 91% on Metacritic, with critics calling it one of the best modern boomer shooters.

2. Street Fighter 6

It has been a great year for Capcom as this is the second entry from them on this list. Street Fighter 6 was released in June 2023 and is one of the best entries on the series in quite some time. After the disastrous launch of Street Fighter 5, Capcom learned its lesson and went all out with this game to make sure it ticked all of the boxes with fans. Street Fighter 6 brings back fan favorites and introduces new characters to the series that will likely become staples for many years. This is fighting at its finest.

Street Fighter 6 scored 92% on Metacritic, with critics calling it a new milestone in the fighting game genre.

1. Baldur’s Gate 3

If Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t clean house at the upcoming The Game Awards, I will be shocked. It shouldn’t be surprising that the game is as good as it is based on previous entries, but I don’t think anyone could have predicted it would become the smash hit it is. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game you can easily sink multiple hundreds of hours into and in a year that has featured some of gaming’s greatest releases, Baldur’s Gate 3 may be the best of them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 scored 96% on Metacritic, with critics calling it the new standard for the RPG genre.
