Battlefield 6 REDSEC battle royale servers run at 30Hz for stability and are ramped up to 60Hz for the final fight.
The highly anticipated free-to-play battle royale mode for Battlefield 6, REDSEC, went live yesterday, bringing in over 500,000 players through Steam alone. The new game mode also came with the Season 1 update for BF6, which introduced a new map, game mode, vehicles, weapons, and more. REDSEC is a free-to-play mode of the game, which doesn’t require the full title. If you want to experience the game in its entirety, you can purchase Battlefield 6 on Amazon.
Battlefield 6 REDSEC’s Servers Run at 30Hz and are Ramped Up to 60Hz for the Final Fight
Spotted by GamesRadar+, Battlefield lead producer, David Sirland, spoke about REDSEC battle royale servers through a reply on X (formerly Twitter). A user on the platform posted, “30hz server in a battle royale in 2025 is definitely a decision,” to which Sirland responded, stating that servers run at “60hz for the final fight. If you make it there.” The lead producer added, “Id argue our 30 beats most of the competition baselines too.”
For context, a graph from TrueGameData’s 2021 FPS-tracking post (via ModernWarzone) shows that Call of Duty Warzone servers run at a tick rate of 20-24Hz, and the game has 150-200 player lobbies. It also provided numbers for other titles, such as Apex Legends servers running at 20Hz with 60 players, Fortnite at 30Hz with 100 players, PUBG at 60Hz with 100 players, and more. And now we know that Battlefield 6 REDSEC runs at 30Hz with 100 players.
Some players also asked David Sirland why older Battlefield games had higher tick rates. To which the lead producer responded, stating, “They were not running 100 players. All that work makes 30 stable and 60 possible end game. Theres more to do, but compare apples to apples.”
In other news, Battlefield 6 skins have been adjusted following community backlash. Additionally, there’s a free BF6 Rogue Ops pack for PlayStation Plus players.
