Electronic Arts has revealed that Battlefield 6 will have an enhanced Portal experience that will allow players to use more tools than ever before to fully customize and construct maps and modes from the ground up. This will allow fans worldwide to create the experiences of their dreams.
The modes you make can be as imaginative as you like, with rulesets being open-ended to facilitate the creation of adventurous and unique modes.
But that’s not all – these custom experiences will come with full progression and experience points.
‘Easier Than Ever to Find and Share’
During the multiplayer reveal for Battlefield 6, the team revealed the impressive Portal experience:
With updates to our UI and navigation systems, it will be easier than ever to find and share exciting new experiences made with Portal.
Here’s the trailer that walks through Battlefield 6’s Portal mode:
One of the saving graces in 2021’s Battlefield 2042 was the introduction of the Portal, which allowed players to experience throwback maps and modes from days gone by. In some ways, it was appreciated more than the game’s base offering, which almost crippled the franchise when it dropped to a woeful reception almost four years ago.
With Battlefield 6’s Portal mode, you’ll be able to turn the game on its head and create something that gels with you. It’ll be a boon for content creators, but I’m struggling to see how it won’t be abused.
I mean, Electronic Arts has stressed that progression and experience can be earned in these Portal modes, so what’s stopping folks from building XP farms and pushing exploits to the masses?
We’ll have to wait and see what happens. Battlefield 6 will be released worldwide on October 10.
