Baldur’s Gate 3 Surpasses 500,000 Players On Steam And Keeps Rising

Baldur's Gate 3 Surpasses 500,000 Players On Steam

It’s only been 24 hours since its full release, and, based on its player count, Baldur’s Gate 3 can already be viewed as nothing short of a success. According to the latest information from SteamDB, Baldur’s Gate 3 has surpassed 500,000 concurrent players.

As of publishing, the game currently has 515,970 concurrent players. That number, however, is expected to rise with the weekend approaching.

Currently, though, the game is the second-best Steam launch of the year, trailing only Hogwarts Legacy. That game hit a peak player count of 879,308 according to SteamDB during its launch.

Baldur’s Gate 3 comes from Larian Studios, the developers behind the Divinity: Original Sin series. It’s the first game in the mainline Baldur’s Gate series since Baldur’s Gate 2 was first launched all the way back in 2000. There have been spinoff titles and enhanced versions released since, but nothing like what Larian developed, a game “based on current Dungeons & Dragons mechanics and spells”.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is scheduled to come to PlayStation 5 on September 6. An Xbox version is in the works, however, there have been issues that might keep the game from launching until next year at the earliest.
