Baldur’s Gate 2 is set to be the next classic game to get the remake treatment. According to a report from PC Gamer, Wizards of the Coast is in the process of remaking the 25-year-old RPG.
Joining the project, they say, is Kevin Martens. Martens, if you didn’t know, was the co-lead designer on Baldur’s Gate 2 at BioWare. In addition to Baldur’s Gate 2, Martens worked on Neverwinter Nights and Mass Effect, among other titles, while at BioWare. He then left to join Blizzard in 2009, working as lead content designer for Diablo 3.
In addition to Baldur’s Gate 2, PC Gamer reports that “it’s likely both” of the first two games are being remade. They also say that what they’ve heard suggests both could be in development concurrently.
It’s important to note that nothing regarding a Baldur’s Gate 2 remake has been confirmed. So, as per usual, take the information with a grain of salt until Insider Gaming can confirm the validity or an official announcement is made.
When asked about the claims, a spokesperson for Wizards of the Coast told Insider Gaming that the company doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation.
