A shock delay has been announced for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, affecting XBOX Series X|S, just hours before the title was scheduled to launch.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game was scheduled for a July 23 launch across PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and XBOX Series X|S, but significant alterations have been made.
While PC and PlayStation 5 are unaffected, Nintendo Switch and XBOX players have been given a hit, and the impact is significantly larger for the latter.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Delayed 6 Weeks on XBOX
Posting on X, Paramount announced that the Switch version will now only be available through the Standard Edition only, while crossplay with other platforms will also not be available.
Crossplay functionality and the ability to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition will arrive “as soon as possible,” but there are no details on when that might be, and the blow to XBOX gamers is even larger.
The announcement stated that Paramount is “forced to delay the release due to unforeseen circumstances on a backend feature,” and the title “will now launch by September 3.”
Although the September 3 date is not concrete, it’s still a significant delay for a title that gamers were planning to be able to play later today, and the fact that only XBOX Series X|S is affected will be a cause for further frustration.
It was also announced that existing pre-orders would remain and would not be cancelled, so anyone that has had a change of heart following the news will need to take action.
