That’s it – Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has officially gone gold, and just like that, it’s ready to start hitting shelves the world over. The open-world Ubisoft title has been in development for quite some time, and now we’re mere weeks away from the game’s launch, but did it completely sneak up on us?
Over the last few months, several gameplay snippets and breakdowns have been released by Ubisoft and Massive, leaving some players debating how they feel about the project. For some, it’s a wonderful title bursting at the seams with potential, but for others, it’s a reskinned Far Cry game that leans on another IP to succeed.
Explore Pandora From December 7th
In the summer, we got a glimpse at gameplay taken straight from Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and it looked good enough on the surface. It was easy to see how some people compare it to Far Cry, but that’s because it’s a Ubisoft title, and the connection is all too easy to make.
From soaring around the map atop an Ikran to hunting one of the many forms of wildlife that roam the map, and from devastating human enemies with Na’vi bows or human-based, ballistic weaponry, there’s plenty to keep players entertained. It reportedly boasts a beautiful world, but that’s characteristic of Avatar as a franchise, and that world is full of outposts that are ripe for domination, which is a classic Far Cry trope.
Reportedly, there’s a lot of side content to explore in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and that includes ‘peaceful’ activities that are a step away from the constant fight to survive against the invading oppressors.
It all kicks off on December 7th now that the game has gone gold — will you be picking it up?
