In an updated report from Reuters, Assassin’s Creed Jade is possibly delayed to 2025 following a shakeup at Tencent.
Reuters’ anonymous sources claim that Tencent has “redeployed hundreds of people from the team developing Assassin’s Creed Jade”.
Instead, the devs are now working on mobile party game DreamStar. Ubisoft did not confirm an actual release date for Assassin’s Creed Jade, but many speculated on a 2024 window.
Ubisoft did not officially confirm the delay for Assassin’s Creed Jade, nor respond to Reuters’ report yet.
Assassin’s Creed Jade is a mobile adventure taking place in Ancient China. A variety of gameplay leaked online in 2023, including over two hours of footage last August.
Surprisingly, fans also gained access to the Assassin’s Creed Jade beta in 2022. Players got the chance to check out the entire beta version of the game on their mobile devices.
However, this was only a beta, and Assassin’s Creed Jade is sure to change and improve leading up to the full release.
For the time being, fans of the franchise are looking forward to Assassin’s Creed Red. It takes place in Feudal Japan, and Insider Gaming provided exclusive details on the game earlier this month. This includes a minor spoiler, revealing the two main heroes are Naoe and Yasuke.
The most recent game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, launched to mixed reviews from fans. However, it did tighten up the story, emphasize parkour again, and attempt to return to the series’ roots. In February, Assassin’s Creed Mirage finally added a permadeath mode.
This week, Ubisoft did reveal plans to work with Nvidia and Inworld AI to create NPCs powered by generative AI in future games.
