Digital Bros has confirmed the cancellation of Armed Fantasia in its FY2026 financial results. The publisher cited gameplay revisions, market conditions, and the costs associated with completing the RPG. The game was intended to be a spiritual successor to Wild Arms.
The game was initially funded via a successful Kickstarter, which raised ¥379,328,385 in 2022. A YouTube channel has some test footage of the game and interviews with the developers, but it hasn’t been updated in 3 years.

Armed Fantasia Development Has Been Discontinued
Digital Bros has decided to cancel two games, including Armed Fantasia and the sequel to the free-to-play game Battle Island. They made this choice after multiple attempts to improve the gameplay. This decision followed a third review of each game and took market changes into account.
As a result, the Group reported non-cash asset impairment of Euro 18 .7 million, including Euro 17.6 million in write -offs relating to the discontinued projects and Euro 1 million in impairment losses on video games for which impairment testing indicated that the present value of expected future cash flows was below the carrying amount of the related assets , to reflect lower sales expectations.
Wild Arms is an iconic JRPG series that started during the era of the Sony PlayStation 1. Eight titles were released between 1996 and 2018 across various platforms. The last console release was Wild Arms 5, which came out in 2005.
