Embark Studios recently revealed the full Frozen Trail update coming to ARC Raiders in just a couple of weeks. It’s poised to be the most substantial turning point for the game in the entire time it has been on the market, introducing the largest update the extraction adventure title has ever seen.
In the video that served to introduce the update, Embark Studios’ employees detailed their roles in the creation of Frozen Trail, and early in the video, one Tahir Tanis introduced himself as the Creative Director of ARC Raiders. Previously, this role was associated with Stefan Strandberg, Embark’s CCO, and the switch looks to have happened very recently and without much furor.
ARC Raiders’ Frozen Trail is Coming Soon
In the latest ARC Raiders update brief for the Frozen Trail patch, Tahir Tanis, an Embark Studios veteran of more than seven years, introduced himself as the Creative Director of ARC Raiders for the first time.
If you take a cursory glance at LinkedIn, you’ll see that he only stepped into that role in August 2026, after spending a year as the World Art Director on ARC Raiders, bringing to life the game’s multiple biomes and environments.
Stefan Strandberg was the previous Creative Director for ARC Raiders, while also serving as Embark Studios’ Chief Creative Officer. He, too, has been at the studio for over seven years.
In some early concept art posts published on ArtStation by Tahir Tanis, Strandberg’s role was confirmed as Creative Director, long before Tanis himself would step into that job. The role is so new that Tanis’ social media profiles still bear the old reference of World Art Director.

Frozen Trail is set to land on October 8, and many feel it will be a revitalization point for the extraction title, which has floundered in recent months from a lack of meaningful updates.
