If you’ve wondered what it might look like if you were to take ARC Raiders, the sensational post-apocalyptic extraction adventure game, and mash it together with Pokémon, the cutesy monster-collecting saga, you can now see that very concept in real time.
Right now, you can download and play a demo of Amiko Legends on Steam, a self-proclaimed ‘creature-collector extraction RPG’. It was only a matter of time before a game like this surfaced, and if you want a combination of Aniimo and Escape from Tarkov, this might be the one.
Amiko Legends is the Most Adorable Extraction Game
We’ve seen fantasy extraction titles, horror extraction games, and tactical-shooter-style extraction games. It was only a matter of time before someone fused the concept of catching monsters with getting out of a match successfully to keep them.
That’s Amiko Legends, the debut title from a studio called Aurory. It’s a creature-collecting extraction game that requires players to go on a run, collect creatures, fight alongside them, and then successfully extract from the match to keep what they’ve found and picked up.
The game’s spiel represents this loop perfectly:
A creature-collecting extraction RPG where every expedition is a risk. Charm wild Amiko and fight alongside them across an untamed world shaped by your actions. Push deeper or pull out, but only what you extract is yours to keep.
In this world, the creatures are called Amiko, and you catch and charm them and level them up, leaning on their unique abilities and personalities to aid you in a fight against the world’s more malicious, foreboding creatures.
As you explore Omika, the game’s world, you’ll see that the actions you take shape how the environment around you evolves. As you extract more Amiko from Omika, you’ll build a team, and you’ll be able to use those creatures in future raids, bolstering your chances the more you level up and the more powerful Amiko you acquire.
