Ubisoft Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Has Been Promoted to Chief AI Enablement Officer

Ubisoft has promoted its Chief Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Social Impact Officer to Chief AI Enablement Officer as the company’s AI push continues.

The announcement came via Raashi Sikka’s LinkedIn profile, where she said she would step into the new role after 5 years at the company.

Ubisoft’s GenAI Push

In the announcement, Sikka said, “AI is poised to be one of the biggest shifts across tech, culture and society, and it will redefine how we work. My goal is to ensure that the organization and our teams feel equipped and confident to navigate this shift and anticipate what’s ahead. It’s a question I care about deeply; how do we make sure change works for the people living through it?”

The announcement comes shortly after Ubisoft internally announced that Motherbrain, a Gen-AI initiative, will now serve as a ‘global entity’ across Ubisoft.

On October 7th, Ubisoft shared new details about Motherbrain with the company, stating that “Motherbrain is now a dedicated Ubisoft team focused on turning generative AI into real gameplay experiences.”

In the announcement, Ubisoft leadership was adamant that GenAI is still just a creative tool, and that it is not a replacement for writers, designers, and actors.

Moving forward, it is now internally expected that Motherbrain and GenAI will be explored by every team at Ubisoft.

“In some games, it can be the heart of the experience: characters you talk to, squadmates who adapt to your plan, worlds that live on their own. In others, it can sit under the hood, making existing systems like behavior trees smart, onboarding more personal, and accessibility better,” said Xavier Manzanares, the general manager of Motherbrain.

As an added little tidbit, yes, the name Motherbrain was inspired by Metroid and Phantasy Star. It was a name that stuck from its conception phase, and “we like that it sounds like it comes from games rather than a lab, because that’s exactly where we come from,: it was said.
