The Elder Scrolls: Which Games Are Considered the Best?

From Skyrim to Oblivion, the Elder Scrolls series has created some of the greatest titles to date. So which of these titles are considered the best? And which one would be labeled as the worst in the franchise?

Our rankings are taken from Metacritic, using their scoring system.

Here is every Elder Scrolls game, such as the infamous Skyrim title, ranked from worst to best.

6. The Elder Scrolls Online

Metascore: 71

Out of every Elder Scrolls game, The Elder Scrolls Online is commonly referred to as the worst title in the franchise. While there is quite a bit to do within the game, it unfortunately was never able to live up to the success of its predecessor, Skyrim. Though, the game still has a lot of content, and will never leave a player bored.

5. The Elder Scrolls: Arena

Metascore: N/A

The Elder Scrolls: Arena was the first game of the series released in 1994. While Arena was very popular at the time, it obviously does not hold up to any of the more recent titles. Still, without an actual Metascore, the game still has a lot of positive reviews online.

4. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Metascore: 82

The second game of the series, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, is known for being one of the largest open-world games ever made. With a Metascore of 82, Daggerfall still holds up as one legendary title. The game is playable on PC and is worth every moment you put into it.

3. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Metascore: 87

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, is ranked a few points higher than its predecessor, Daggerfall. The game was the first 3D installment in the series, and really pushed the popularity of The Elder Scrolls series. The game still had a vast world to explore, just not as big as Daggerfall.

2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Metascore: 94

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is commonly referred to as one of the greatest video games ever made. Its vast open world, mixed with unique mechanics, made the game extremely popular upon release. It was a fresh start for the series, marking a new era for The Elder Scrolls.

1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Metascore: 96

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is argubaly one of the greatest video games ever created. The game blew up upon its release, and absolutely shook the world. It’s massive world, mixed with unique stories and some of the best expanisons, created one of the leargest communities in gaming. The game has also been remade multiple times.

Skyrim is currently the highest rated Elder Scrolls title. Though, that could easily change with The Elder Scrolls VI releasing in the coming years.

  1. Y’all do know there is only one Skyrim game right? None of the other Elder Scrolls games are named Skyrim, even though you can visit Skyrim in some. So this list should go in this order.

    6. Skyrim
    5. Skyrim
    4. Skyrim
    3. Skyrim
    2. Skyrim
And if you’ve figured out the pattern you’ll guess number 1 is… OMG Skyrim!

Should title this article “Best Elder Scrolls games” or not wrote about something you obviously know nothing about.

  2. The introduction should read 10 best “elder scrolls” games not “Skyrim” games.
