Activision has filed a new trademark for the Crash Bandicoot franchise, and it could hint at big plans for the series outside of gaming.
The filing specifically references ‘motion picture films’ and ‘television series,’ suggesting the publisher may be exploring opportunities in film, television, or animation.
What Does Crash Bandicoot’s Future Look Like?

The new trademark for Crash Bandicoot can be viewed here or via the image above. You’ll note that it covers a broad range of entertainment uses and is valid until 2035. While trademarks don’t guarantee that a project is actively in development, they can often provide an early indication of a company’s long-term plans.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Crash Bandicoot has been linked to television. Late last year, rumors suggested that an animated Crash Bandicoot series was in production for Netflix, with reports claiming it was being developed by WildBrain Studios, the team behind Sonic Prime.
However, little information surfaced after the initial reports, and the project seemingly disappeared from public discussion. This latest trademark could reignite speculation that some form of adaptation is still being considered behind the scenes. After all, it would be unusual for Activision to secure such broad entertainment rights without at least exploring potential opportunities.
For now, fans can only speculate about what form a Crash Bandicoot adaptation might take. Whether it’s an animated series, a feature film, or something entirely different, the trademark suggests Activision sees the franchise as more than just a video game property.
And with the tricky marsupial making a resurgence in the gaming scene, with titles such as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, the timing could be perfect for Crash to make the leap to the big screen.
