Next month, two of the most widely appreciated Call of Duty games ever made, Black Ops and Black Ops 2, are coming back into the fold with new ports on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Fans have busied themselves learning every scrap of information possible about these games in recent days, but some are building their expectations too high.
Many have gone under the assumption that Black Ops and Black Ops 2 will be re-released in July as remasters, but that has been definitively stated as not being the case. Activision recently reaffirmed that these games are coming as straight ports and not remasters, which means they might not be as good as people are hoping for.

When Are Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 Coming to PlayStation?
It’s expected that the duo of Call of Duty games will hit PlayStation platforms next month; we just don’t know when. The nature of their arrival has caused something of an understandable stir in the Call of Duty space, as fans are preparing to once again dive head over heels into two of the most beloved games in the franchise.
It has been more than 15 years since Black Ops first surfaced, but it still holds a dear place in the hearts of gamers worldwide.
In a recent report from Eurogamer, however, it was confirmed by Activision that Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are not being remastered. Instead, they’re coming forth as simple ports, which means that even when played on a shiny PlayStation 5 Pro, the games won’t necessarily benefit from the boosted technology.
Eurogamer’s report explained:
We reached out to Activision to try and get some clarity on what players can expect. The publisher confirmed that the Black Ops 1&2 re-releases will be available on PS4 and PS5, stressing that these are ports and not remasters.
It’s expected that these games will be ‘enhanced’, but they’re not full-fledged remasters. Presently, it’s not even clear if these games will have full multiplayer platforms, which is the number one thing folks are excited about.
In 2012, Black Ops 2 was released to an extremely positive reception, and it’s still considered the best Call of Duty multiplayer platform ever made. It kickstarted the heart of the competitive community too, and served as the foundation of the first Call of Duty world championship.

LoL Sony fanboys really have been grasping hard for anything to bring Xbox down after its showcase was unanimously declared as a worse overall show than Xbox’s.
They have been gloating all week about getting these games and Xbox wasn’t… when Xbox has had them the whole time, and Xbox cleaned up the MP servers when the ABK deal finally passed.
Both Blops and Blops 2 were my favorite CoD games ever, but I alreafy have so manry games to play. Not enough time for me currently to actually get me to boot either of these up unless my whole friend group wanted to play a round of Zombies… Mob of the Dead specifically. But not gonna lie, that map “Firing Range” does sound like fun.
