Maverick Games Officially Reveals CLUTCH After Weeks-Long Teaser

Maverick Games, a studio made up of former Forza Horizon talent, has today unveiled its all-new open-world, narrative-driven racing game, CLUTCH. This reveal came at the end of a two-week countdown stream, first published by Maverick Games on May 22nd.

In the run-up to the grand reveal of Clutch, Maverick Games shared images and teasers on social media, painting a picture of this ambitious venture that promises to rival Forza Horizon, which has been on a generational run of late.

Find out everything you need to know below.

CLUTCH Takes Players To a Massive Open World

Maverick Games has been working on Clutch for more than three years from a studio headquartered in Leamington Spa in the United Kingdom. Funnily enough, that’s also where Playground Games, the developer behind Forza Horizon, is based.

In recent weeks, Maverick drove a hilarious Fiat Multipla into their office, setting it up as the site of a two-week countdown that has been silently streaming on YouTube ever since. Around the same time, the team invited content creators in the racing space to get a look at Clutch, which has now been officially and fully revealed.

Maverick was founded in 2022 by Mike Brown, formerly the creative director on Forza Horizon 5, and the studio immediately set about creating a cutting-edge open-world racing title to rival that very franchise.

Here’s the first trailer for Clutch, built into the livestream build-up (note: Maverick appears to have not listed the live stream recording, but this might be remedied. Check back!)

The team stressed that Clutch has been built out of a pure love for driving, which is apparent in the trailer, revealed as the live broadcast came to an end. The intricacies of the game’s customization model mean that players can now dress up the interior of their cars as much as the exterior, adding fine details and giving their vehicles a homely, lived-in feel.

At Summer Game Fest, Maverick Games will unveil the first full, uninterrupted trailer, so stay tuned!
