One of Sony’s biggest hopes of 2026 falls on the shoulders of Saros—the new release from the excellent Housemarque. Considering the team’s most recent work and entire portfolio, there’s a big hope that Saros will review well.
Let me start by saying I love Housemarque. I’ve been on their train since Super Stardust HD on the PS3. The studio has a certain panache and brilliance that few studios can match, and the team has done this consistently for over 15 years.
Many (including myself) are hoping that Saros reviews are amazing, and it becomes Housemarque’s magnum opus.
Saros Review Embargo Date, Explained
It’s been revealed that the Saros review embargo lifts on April 24, giving you plenty of time to digest critical opinion before launch.
I would say it’s good news that the review embargo is a few days before release. This means Housemarque is confident in its game and expects good reviews to come flooding out and convince you all to pre-purchase in the days leading up to go time.

Returnal scored a phenomenal 86/100 on Metacritic when all was said and done. Nex Machina: Death Machine stands at 88/100, Resogun 84/100, and the list goes on. The developer rarely (if ever) misses.
Expect Saros to score around the same as Returnal—if not higher come April 24.
Saros Review Embargo Release Times
The review embargo officially lifts at 12 AM PT.
You Pacific Time inhabitants might have to gut it out and stay up late if you want to see the reviews! To be honest, it’s not much better for the rest of America or a lot of the world.

Review embargo confirmation comes from the ever-reliable GermanStrands, who posted the details on X on April 15:
“People are already able to play Saros. The review embargo lifts on April 24 at 12 AM PT, which is 6 days before the official release.”
Obviously, this could be adjusted between now and April 15, and if it happens, I’ll update this guide as quickly as a flash to reflect this.
