Pokémon Go fans have a new Pokémon to track down on April Fool’s Day and during the A Shockingly Good Time Go Pass period in the game, with Mimikyu debuting, which naturally raises questions about Shiny Mimikyu’s availability.
Shiny hunting is an extremely popular pastime in the Pokémon community, and Pokémon Go has made it easier than ever to Shiny hunt by making various Pokémon available while out and about.
However, not every Pokémon available in Pokémon Go has its Shiny form available to encounter, and Insider Gaming has all the details on Shiny Mimikyu’s availability.
Can You Catch Shiny Mimikyu in Pokémon Go?

No, Shiny Mimikyu is not available in Pokémon Go despite the addition of the disguise Pokémon on April Fool’s Day.
While the fan-favorite is available for a limited time on April Fool’s Day, and as a reward in the A Shockingly Good Time Go Pass, Shiny Mimikyu is not in the encounter pool.

During the event and April Fool’s Day, however, there are a host of Pokémon that can be encountered as their Shiny form, including Shiny Pikachu during the Pikachu Spotlight Hour between 7 PM and 8 PM local time on April 1.
For anyone wanting a Shiny Mimikyu, however, it could be a lengthy wait for its addition to Pokémon Go, as Niantic tends to scatter the drops.
When Will Shiny Mimikyu be Added to Pokémon Go?
There are no details on when Shiny Mimikyu will be available in Pokémon Go, and the wait for the special form to be introduced by Niantic could be a long one.
Niantic has spread out the drops of new Pokémon and the debut of their Shiny forms throughout the 10-year history of the game, often with huge gaps between them.
For example, the Shiny forms of Scorbunny, Raboot, and Cinderace were added to Pokémon Go on March 14 as part of the March 2026 Community Day, yet the trio made their debuts in September 2024.

That huge span in time means it could be a long wait for Shiny Mimikyu to appear in Pokémon Go, particularly as Mimikyu itself is only available as a limited-time option.
Before a Shiny Mimikyu debut is even considered, Mimikyu needs to appear more regularly in Pokémon Go, but Niantic’s approach suggests it will be saved for special events, like Halloween.
