New details about the multiplayer gameplay for the upcoming Halloween game by IllFonic have been revealed.
Halloween is a title based on the wildly popular horror franchise featuring the iconic Michael Myers. The game was revealed last year and is all set to arrive in September 2026. The upcoming game features a 1v4 asymmetrical horror experience, and the developers have just revealed more details on the multiplayer features.
Play as Michael Myers or the Residents of Haddonfield in Halloween Multiplayer
IllFonic’s new blog post discusses the multiplayer gameplay details for Halloween. In this experience, players can choose between two roles: they can step into the shoes of the methodical killer, Michael Myers, and hunt down their targets, or they can take on the role of a resident trying to rescue themselves and their neighbors from the boogeyman.
Michael Myers Abilities in Halloween
When playing as the villain in Halloween multiplayer, players will have to kill all residents across town; however, there are some Special Targets you need to go after for better rewards. Michael Myers has abilities that can be used to locate, terrorize, and execute civilians. Killer Sense allows the character to be more aware of his surroundings and of others’ proximity. The character can build Stalk levels to help identify and track targets or to open more execution options.
Then you have Shape Jump, an ability to amplify the character’s mobility, allowing Michael to move through shadows stealthily. There’s also Shape Dash, which gives the character the power to lunge forward with “violent momentum.” However, Shape Jump only works in darkness outside a civilian’s line of sight.
Resident Abilities in Halloween
The game not only provides players with the power to hunt as the villain but also with tools to survive as a civilian. The civilian’s role will be to find other Haddonfield residents and guide them to safety. Each civilian has been designed with unique stats, special traits, and signature personalities.
When exploring, civilians will reveal new POIs, resident NPCs, lootable containers, hiding places, telephones, possible escape routes, and more. Talking to residents will also provide civilians with additional tools, such as requesting police backup, commands for finding secure hiding places, or companionship when running from the boogeyman.
The lootable containers in Halloween multiplayer feature weapons, distractions, and key items that will aid the players’ survival. Moreover, even in death, civilians will be able to help others by returning as “a Sheriff’s Deputy or the unrelenting Dr. Loomis.” The developers have also stated, “While he can’t be killed, with enough community resistance, the proper equipment, and sheer manpower, he can be detained and shipped back to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium.”
In other news, Xbox’s latest partner preview event featured new gameplay and closed beta details for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Additionally, the second title for PlayStation Plus’s April 2026 monthly games has been revealed. What are your thoughts on Halloween’s multiplayer details?
