Build a Rocket Boy has, unfortunately, announced more layoffs, a decision the Co-CEO is calling “deeply painful.”
Build a Rocket Boy, known for releasing MindsEye, announced the news on LinkedIn. They shared a message from co-CEO Mark Gerhard, in which he praised those who were unfortunately affected by the redundancies, calling them enormously talented.
MindsEye Co-CEO Feels Organized Espionage Hurt MindsEye’s Launch
He also went on to double down on his belief that “organized espionage” and corporate sabotage affected MindsEye, saying they have been working with external partners and legal advisors to investigate the “criminal activity” surrounding the launch.
“Because this matter is moving towards prosecution, we cannot share the full details publicly yet,” the statement reads, before noting that the team has continued working to evolve MindsEye, and that he’s part of the work they’ve done. Still, the prolonged impact of the difficult launch has resulted in further layoffs.
The statement ends by thanking those affected by the news and promising to support them in finding their next opportunity.
In early February, Insider Gaming reported that Gerhard told employees they had caught the perpetrators responsible for the sabotage and noted that the company behind the campaign was a “very big American company” that had allegedly spent over €1 million on a smear campaign against the game in 2025.
Layoffs And Server Shutdowns Remain a Top Gaming Story in 2026
Recently, Wildlight Entertainment announced it would shut down the Highguard servers on March 12. That means the game, which received heavy press and backlash for being the final game featured at the Game Awards in 2025, will go offline after less than 2 months since its launch. Learn more about that decision here.
